A Modern Taste of Ancient Rome
Did you know that the world's first foodies weren't actually hipsters? They were wealthy ancient Romans, and the best known was a man named Apicius, who was the inspiration for the world's first known cookbook and threw lavish parties for Caesar Tiberius. Apicius is at the center of Crystal King's debut novel, Feast of Sorrow (Touchstone Books, 2017), which is set amongst the scandal, wealth, and upstairs-downstairs politics of a Roman family.
Join Crystal and Chef Patrick Campbell (previously of No. 9 Park and Cafe Art Science) for this culinary journey through history! Crystal will discuss her book and the world of food in ancient Rome, while Patrick will cook up creative, modern interpretations of the classic recipes represented in Feast of Sorrow.
